Extreme weather conditions continue. After a year in which many rainfall records have been broken one of the longest dry spells, of 18 consecutive days without anymore than a trace of rain, ended on 4 March. Since the new millennium there has only been one equally long dry period, none longer, and that was in March 2010.
As expected total rainfall for any 12 month period has now exceeded 1600 mm. This happened on 23 March when the amount for the 12 months reached 1626.6 mm. This dramatic reversal from a year ago, when rainfall for the 12 months to the end of March was 639.6 mm, is well illustrated here.
